Feedback on District Website

If you'd like to answer a couple quick questions about the district website, I'd like to hear it. Feel free to post a comment answering any/all of the following questions:

1) What things do you like and dislike about the current district website?

2) What are the things you like and dislike about your school website?

3) What do you think is missing from the websites?

4) What is the most common reason you visit the district or school website?

5) General website comments?

Thank you.

Off-topic question, but I heard that the flagpole at RHS football field was painted by volunteers. The pole at Somerville is peeling and rusted and ugly too. Is the school district going to paint it or do we have to get our own volunteers?

The district is planning to re-paint the Somerville flagpole. I'm told that the method required to remove the old paint (important for better, longer-lasting adhesion of the new paint) needs several days of 60-degree weather, so it will be done in the spring. And btw, the high school flagpole was painted by a professional. The funds were donated. I don't think we want volunteers climbing flagpoles!

The most annoying problem with all of the District's websites (and the Village site, for that matter) is that they are not dynamic. Since internet communication is more or less instantaneous, the news must be continually updated, "new" news added, old news deleted, etc. This is a ton of work to be sure, but the tacit promise of an organization that puts up a website is that it will be maintained and and updated continually. None of our sites do this
